"The New Rules of High School" Review

This book is about a popular teenager in high school. He is captain of the debate team and editor of the school newspaper. This guy really messes up as he goes through many challenging situations. This book is not that easy to summarize. But what I will tell you is that it is realistic even though it is fiction. This book should only be read by ages thirteen and up because of some inappropriate content. The book is not violent and is very interesting. It delves well into a high school teen's life.

The teen's name is Max Caldwell and he is also an A student. (good for him!) One of the interesting parts of this book is when he makes a lot of mistakes. For example, he breaks up with his girlfriend that he loves, takes drugs, and crashes his car into his house's garage. This is definitely and interesting read. "A Wind in the Door" Review

"A Wind in the Door" is written by Madeline L'Engle and is about 3 humans and a cherubim who try to save a little boy who is doomed to die. The book is about 200 pages and is not very exciting or anything along those lines. The author does not pack a lot of action or plot into this, which makes the story seem even shorter than it is. The only thing I really have to say about this book is that it's not worth getting it if you are a teenager. However, for children 5th grade and up, this book is fine. "A Wind in the Door" is also written with a Christian perspective and has some obvious  parallelisms with the real world and Christianity today. "Schooled" Review

"Schooled" is a book written by Gordon Korman who has a lot of written works. This book is about a hippie, Capricorn "Cap" Anderson, whose grandmother falls and goes to the hospital. Because he, who is 13, is left alone at home with no one to watch him, he is turned over to a guidance counselor who works for Child Services. Cap, because he cannot be taught by his hospitalized grandmother, has to go to the local public middle school. Cap is in for a surprise because he is not used to regular middle school. He encounters people who find him weird and a nerd and people who make fun of him for the ways he dresses and what he does. In this school it is a tradition to elect the biggest nerd as the president of the school in order to make him have stress and watch him fail. As people make fun of Cap (Cap doesn't even get the jokes aimed at him) and bother Cap, they see the true Cap, the one who is strong and doesn't fall under the heavy attacks from his schoolmates. As this happens, some of Cap's enemies become his friends. Soon enough, everyone begins to love Cap and what he does as president.

I love this book! I really enjoyed the plot. I love how Cap handles the situations and I love how his heart is so pure, when compared to the people being mean to him. I really recommend this book to children and teens. Even though my description of the book might have been maybe a little too revealing, I am sure it will not ruin your experience with this book.
